Sunshine State Scholars recognizes Florida's top 11th grade students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), recruits them to stay in Florida for their postsecondary education, and introduces them to the vast array of STEM career opportunities available in their home state.
Hosted by the Florida Education Foundation, the 2012 Sunshine State Scholars program is scheduled for Feb 16-17, 2012 at the Doubletree Hotel at the Entrance to Universal Orlando.
Throughout September and October every school district in Florida selects their top STEM 11th grader(s) based on established criteria.
In February, these students, along with their parents and teachers, will convene for an extraordinary 2-day program where they will receive recognition for their achievements, talk with STEM industry leaders to learn about amazing careers and internships, and meet with representatives from Florida's colleges and universities to learn about programs of study and available scholarships.
