TWO-DIMENSIONAL AT/PAINTING

The purpose of this course is to enable students to develop fundamental perceptual, observational, and compositional skills necessary to communicate a range of subject matter, symbols, ideas, and concepts using knowledge of two-dimensional art and painting media, processes, and techniques.
CERAMICS POTTERY 1 & 2 0102300 & 0102310
Credit 0.5 per semester
This class is designed for students who have an interest in working with clay, and gives students experiences in making functional as well as sculptural pieces, using a variety of techniques. Well thought out forms, designs and functional uses along with good craftsmanship are emphasized.

The Choral Music Department teaches how to use the voice in many genres, and provides opportunities for performance in small and large groups. In this four year course a student will learn how to read 4-8 part harmony and sing with or without accompaniment, for solos, duets, trios, quartets and choirs of all sizes.

The purpose of this program is to develop musicianship skills in band and instrumental ensembles, enabling students to develop fundamental skills in characteristic tone production, band performance techniques, musical literacy, and music appreciation. Students develop independence in musicianship, performance techniques and aesthetic awareness through the rehearsal and performance of varied band literature. The content should include analyzing form, style and history in the performance preparation of varied band literature; formulating critical listening skills and aesthetic values. All students accepted into the band program in any capacity or position must participate in all aspects of the band program including Marching Band and Concert Band. Prerequisite: Audition.
INSTRUMENTAL TECHNIQUES

MUSIC THEORY

This course is required of all freshman band students as a supplemental course to Concert Band. Students will develop fundamental music skills on their band instruments while developing skills in written music theory. The course includes extensive scale studies and provides opportunities to learn chamber ensemble music.

Steel Pans is a multi-cultural instrumental music ensemble that exposes students to a variety of musical genres. Students are expected to have a basic knowledge of music reading including but not limited to notes, rhythms, and dynamics. Students will be expected to perform on multiple instruments including but not limited to steel pans, bass guitar, drums, and auxiliary percussion.
