The purpose of this two semester course is to develop and enhance healthy behaviors that influence lifestyle choices and student health and fitness. HOPE will meet graduation requirement for Physical Education with the integration of health topics.

The purpose of the Weight Training Program is to instill basic knowledge and skills in weight training, improve muscular strength and endurance, and enhance body image. Content should include, but not be limited to: safety practices, assessment of health-related fitness; reinforcement of weigh training concepts; design, implementation, and evaluation of a personal weight training program to meet specific needs and goals; organization and administration of weight lifting activities; assessment of basic skills; consumer issues; and fitness activities. Special Note: This is not an interscholastic extracurricular activity.
INDIVIDUAL & DUAL SPORTS I-III

This is a survey program whose purpose is to: acquire knowledge of individual and dual sports play; develop basic skills in selected individual and dual sports, and maintain and/or improve health-related fitness. The program may include, but not limited to, archery, badminton, bowling, golf, gymnastics, handball, paddleball, racquetball, skating, swimming, table tennis, and tennis. Special Note: This is not an interscholastic extracurricular activity.
RECREATION

This is a survey course whose purpose is to acquire knowledge and skills in a variety of recreational activities and maintain and/or improve health-related fitness.

The purpose of this program is to develop an individual level of health-related fitness, acquire knowledge of fitness concepts, and recognize the significance of health-related fitness on one’s health through aerobics. Special Note: This is not an interscholastic extracurricular activity.
BASKETBALL

The purpose of this course is to provide students with opportunities to acquire knowledge and skills in basketball that may be used in recreational pursuits today as well as in later life, and maintain and/or improve their personal fitness.
FITNESS LIFESTYLE DESIGN
