As a result of the decline of minority and disadvantaged young men and women
in our colleges and universities, some educators felt a need to provide their
time and assistance to these young people in an effort to stimulate interest in
higher education. Thus around the year of 1984, Achievers in Action, a service
club at Vero Beach High School was formed. Its main purpose is to provide exposure
and educational experiences to minority and disadvantaged students in an effort to
stimulate their interest in the pursuit of higher educational goals. As a result
of this exposure it is hoped that the pursuit of higher education will truly make
them productive members of our free society.
